The development of the Motte is quite a departure from the large-scale Germanic defenses in the form of Wallburg with wall-or wood-based ramparts and palisades, and also differs from the Roman watchtowers. The first Motten emerged from 900 to 1000 AD, most of the facilities were built in the 11th-12th Century. In some parts of Europe until the early 15th moths Century built.
